Incrediman Web Comix #26

Welcome back for another installment of Incrediman Web Comix!

First off I want to thank everyone who contributed to the Love & Monsters Kickstarter campaign I have been apart of. The project reached it's goal yesterday and is now looking to hit some stretch goals before the campaign ends at 11:30 PM EST tonight. It's going to be a great project and it couldn't have been done without everyone's support!

Last week, Incrediman was hiding out on a rooftop watching a political rally when he noticed an assassin poised to strike. Even though Incrediman is under strict orders to remain unseen he was left with no choice but to intervene. This week Incrediman halts the rooftop assassin but might have just made things worse.
Thanks for stopping by this week folks! See you next week for another exciting installment of Incrediman Web Comix!

Incrediman WebComix #25

Welcome back for another week of Incrediman Web Comix

Last week Incrediman was reflecting on his lost memories and what an impact it has on his life. This week, Incrediman is beginning to get bored dwelling on his memories and is anxious to start taking a more active role as a Super Hero.

You might notice some artistic differences between the last story and this one. The story beginning this week originally saw publication as Incrediman Comix & Stories #2 released back in 2010. On the other hand, the story from the last two weeks, Like the Corner's of My Mindwas just drawn this past January.

The ability to tell the stories in the order I felt they happened chronologically for the characters as opposed to the order I drew them was a huge draw of re-presenting the Incrediman stories on-line.

Welcome back to a brand new installment of Incrediman Web Comix!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Incrediman Web Comix #23

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We're kicking off the holiday weekend with a brand new Incrediman tale! This particular story was previously published in the comics anthology, Memory.

Last week Incrediman accepted a deal with the General to be a Super Hero in exchange for help recovering his memories and a healthy chunk of cash. This week Incrediman takes a minute to reflect.

Thanks for swinging by this week folks!

A quick note. I contributed to a comic anthology called Love + Monsters, which is currently seeking funding via Kickstarter. We're creeping along towards our goal, but we could still use your help. Check it out. All pledges of support are greatly appreciated!

Incrediman Web Comix #22

This is it!

The stunning conclusion to the thrilling first chapter of Incrediman Web Comix!!

Last week, the General laid out his grand scheme. A partnership with Incrediman, fronted by a licensing corporation. Dumbstruck by the generous offer Incrediman needed a moment to mull it over.

One quick programming note! Despite what it says on this weeks installment, next will not be the first installment in "The Mysterious Mystery of King Mechavelli". Instead, the next two weeks will feature the short story that originally appeared in the recent anthology, Memory.

See you back here next Monday for the first installment of "Like the Corners of My Mind"!

Incrediman Web Comix #21

Happy Veteran's Day!

Hope everyone had a good week! While I was preparing this week's installment I discovered that this is the penultimate installment of the first "chapter" of Incrediman Web Comix! Thanks to everyone who has kept coming back over the last few months. I sincerely appreciate that!

Last week, the General revealed to Incrediman that the robot army was nothing but an illusion. The General also admitted he been conducting a series of tests on Incrediman in order to study him.

This week, the General finally reveals, to Incrediman, his full intentions.

Incrediman Web Comix #17

Welcome back to a brand new installment of Incrediman Web Comix!

I just got back from the New York Comic Con and it was a total blast! I have never been to a convention of that magnitude before and was totally blown away by the whole scope of it! Myself and the rest of the guys at Comic Book Pitt could not have asked for a better Con experience!

Last week, Incrediman was opening up to Cabbie about his experiences here on Earth when they were interrupted by a rocket attack. This week, Incrediman finds himself in a bit of a bind.

The plot thickens for Incrediman and the gang! Be sure to check back next week for the next mind-bending installment of Incrediman Web Comix!

Incrediman Web Comix #15

Welcome back to a brand new installment of Incrediman Web Comix!!

It's been an exciting week here at Incrediman HQ. My favorite baseball team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, clinched a home playoff game scheduled for this coming Tuesday. Can't wait to see my first playoff game in person!

In two weeks, my cohorts from Comic Book Pitt and I will be at the New York Comic Con held at the world famous Javits Center in Manhattan. It's pretty exciting opportunity to take the show on the road to the largest comic book convention outside of the San Diego Comic Con. We will be in the Podcast Arena. I'm bringing copies of Incrediman Comix & Stories along with me. So, if you're in the area, stop on by!

Last week, the General set in motion his final test on Incrediman to determine if he's Super Hero material or not. This week, Incrediman offers some insight into his current state of mind.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoyed this weeks strip!

And remember, Let's Go Bucs!!

Incrediman Web Comix #14

You know the drill by now! A brand new Monday, a brand new installment of Incrediman Web Comix!
I've spent the last week getting over a cold, so not much new to report this week.
Last week the General had his first face to face meeting with Incrediman. The General is trying to determine if Incrediman is someone he can trust. He's still trying to figure that out.

I'm guesting on this week's Sequential Underground to discuss my experience with SPX and the Pittsburgh 'Zine Fair. Stay tuned for updates!

Incrediman Web Comix #13

Hey gang! I just got back from the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD! It was a total blast, but I'll save up wrap up on that for later in the week. Right now, I gotta catch some Z's before going back to my day job in the morning.

Last week, the General deflected criticism towards his supposed plans for Incrediman. This week the General has his first face-to-face with Incrediman, as he tries to figure just who and what he really is.

This weekend I will be at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD. Plane, train or automobile come buy some comics! Incrediman Comix & Stories #4 and my mini-comic Mean Face will both be making their debuts there.

The General has been hidden away, hard at work conducting his tests on Incrediman. The General's absence has risen suspicions.

Intrigued by this new character? Come to the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD, table D5B and pick up the latest edition of Incrediman Comix & Stories to get the whole story!

Incrediman Web Comix #11

Welcome to the Labor Day edition of Incrediman Web Comix!

Hope everyone is having a fun and safe Labor Day weekend! I don't really know any Labor Day related trivia. Does Jerry Lewis still do his marathon? I used to watch them with my Mom when I was a kid, but I haven't seen one in a very, very long time. I suppose I could just look it up on-line, but that would require more effort than I'm prepared to give right now.

Just a reminder, less than two weeks from now I'll be appearing at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD. If you're in the area come say hello. The fourth issue of Incrediman Comix & Stories will be making it's debut there. I'm also debuting my new mini-comic, Mean Face, there as well.

Last week, Millie's studies were unable to come up with a definitive answer for just what exactly Incrediman is. This week, the General takes matters into his own hands. Much to Incrediman's chagrin.

I can still remember drawing this page back in 2007. At the time it was my favorite page of all I had drawn to that point. I believe this was also my first foray with the nine-panel grid. Which is now a gimmick device I employ more frequently.

Incrediman Web Comix #10

Another Monday, another brand new installment of Incrediman Web Comix!!

Welcome back for another week of thrilling excitement! I hope everyone had a good weekend! It was a nice one here at Incrediman HQ. I received a limited print run of Incrediman Comix & Stories #4 in the mail from Ka-Blam this past week. They looked good as usual and I am now officially fully stocked for next month's Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD!

Asides from that, nothing new to report. So, on with the show...

Last week, the General aroused the suspicions of more than one person with his reported "spy satellite" discovery. This week he begins his trek to get to the bottom of exactly what and who it is he found.

Incrediman Web Comix #9

Hello!

Welcome back for another installment of Incrediman Web Comix! The weeks sure are flying by! Summer is winding down and Fall is right around the corner. Hmm, I thought I was going somewhere with this but it's quickly beginning to feel like a list of obvious observations. Airplanes fly in the sky, meanwhile water is wet. None the less, thank you for coming back week in and week out! Let me know you're not a spam-bot, leave a comment! It doesn't need to be some deep, philosophical musing; a simple "Hello" will do!

Unrelated, if you're attending this years Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD. Swing by table D5B and say "Hello" (okay, evidently it was related) I'll have all the print copies of Incrediman Comix & Stories, including the brand new issue #4 (which for those keeping track, will not appear on here until Summer 2015), Incrediman Adventure Comix,  as well as some non-Incrediman mini-comics, Love + Monsters and the just-finished-this-weekend Mean Face.

If you recall, last week the General was getting a hot earful from the President regarding the alleged spy satellite he claims to have discovered in the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon (it was really Incrediman, but the General doesn't want anyone to know about him yet). Ever the opportunist, the General seizes the moment in an attempt to advance his personal agenda.

Thanks again for stopping by! Hope you have a good week! See you here next week for the next thrilling installment of Incrediman Web Comix!!

Incrediman Web Comix #8

Happy Monday! Welcome back to a brand new installment of Incrediman Web Comix!!

Hope your weekend was well! Nothing too eventful here at Incrediman HQ. I did receive the proof copy of Incrediman Comix & Stories #4 over the weekend. The fine folks at Ka-Blam did another bang up job. This book will make it's debut at this year's Small Press Expo.

If you're unable to attend this years SPX and would like to get a copy of Incrediman Comix & Stories #4 drop me a line at incredimancomix@gmail.com for details.

Last week, as you may recall, the General had put his plan into play to cover up Incrediman's crash landing. Although, not everyone was buying it. This week, the hard sell continues...

That's all for this now. Hope everyone has a fun and safe week!! See you back here next Monday for more Incrediman Web Comix!!

Incrediman Web Comix #7

Hello and welcome back to another wondrous installment of Incrediman Web Comix! It's been a whirlwind weekend here at Incrediman Central. Thanks to everyone in the Pittsburgh area who came out for the Little Book Fair on Friday night. Good times were had by all. Some very lovely people picked up some of my comics and their lives are forever richer as a result!

On Saturday I started work on my next non-Incrediman mini comic, Mean Face, which will be debuting at this year's SPX along with Incrediman Comix & Stories #4.

Speaking of which, there is a character who is prominently featured in that issue whose very debut is in TODAY'S INSTALLMENT! (Here's a hint, it's not the TV reporter) So be sure to print this out and save it for posterity. Someday you'll put your children through college with the profits you'll reap from re-selling said print out!*

On a personal note, I'd like to wish a very Happy Birthday to my Mom, Lu Ann Catherine! She's a wonderful and supporting Mother who has always been there for me no matter what and I am eternally grateful to be her son. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!

Now, let's get on with what you came here for! Last week, the General concocted a plan to conceal the truth about Incrediman's crash landing. So far, so good...

*DISCLAIMER: It has since been brought to my attention that web comix do not work this way. Sorry, printing these out and saving them is not akin to finding a copy of Action Comics #1 in the wall of a house. Your best bet is to purchase a print version of Incrediman Comix & Stories #1 instead. Drop me a line at incredimancomix@gmail.com for more details!

Alright, that was two announcements. Oh, well.

So, last week, the General decided to lift Incrediman out of the crater and take him back to the base.

Incrediman Web Comix #4

Good Monday! Here's another installment of Incrediman Web Comix!

I didn't leave myself much time to write anything thoughtful or insightful here. I've been busy coloring pages for the next issue of Incrediman Comix & Stories which is scheduled to premiere at this years Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD this September.

More on that as it develops.

Until then....what does it look like General?

Hello and welcome back to the next thrilling installment of Incrediman Web Comix!! Hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July weekend. On the off chance you're not from the United States, I hope you had a safe and fun regular weekend.

I'll keep the yammering to a minimum as with this weeks installment things finally start happening! Thanks for sticking with us the last two weeks, you're patience has been worth it!

On a side note; while I do my best to ensure quality control on these, not all computers display the same. If you're having any trouble reading the dialogue on this page let me know in the comments section below and I'll do what I can to fix it up!

Incrediman Web Comix #2

Welcome to the second installment of Incrediman Web Comix!!

I'll keep it brief this week. I'm writing this on Sunday night. I just got back from watching the Pittsburgh Pirates complete a three game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers. It was a long day at the ball park. In the second inning the skies opened up to the tune of a two hour and twenty minute rain delay. Once play resumed they ended up playing fourteen innings!! Nothing like spending an eight hour day at the ball park!

Alright, enough about baseball. On to the main attraction! See you back next week for #3!

I figured I'd come back and toss in a little history on this page just in case anyone cares about this kind of stuff.

A quick back story; when I started drawing this comic back in 2007 I had no clue what I was doing. I had never tried drawing a proper comic book before. It had always been comic strips up until that point. That said, the first five pages of Incrediman were done piece by piece.

Including this particular page. Each component was drawn on separate pieces of paper and then arranged in Photoshop. At first it was fun having the freedom to be able to keep arranging the panels around, but after awhile it started to feel like more effort than it was worth.

I knew it was getting out of hand on the final panel of page 5 (coming in a few weeks), that panel was drawn on a full page out of one of those big ole 18x24 drawing pads. I think that was the dimension, not sure now. Whatever it actually was, it was huge and ridiculously unnecessary. After that I wanted to start drawing the whole page as one piece. And from page 6 on, that's how it's been.

Incrediman Web Comix #1

Starting today, and updating every Monday, the journey of the world's most unassuming super hero; Incrediman!
This is a pretty exciting endeavor for me. This first installment was first published as Incrediman Comix & Stories #1 back in 2009. Since then I've published four subsequent issues with a fifth one on the way, along with some assorted short stories here and there.
Now with Incrediman Web Comix, I get another opportunity to tell this story in a brand new venue. The advantage of publishing on-line in weekly installments is that I get a chance to put some of the stories in their proper chronological order as opposed to the order they were published. Another advantage is I now have the opportunity to add some additional short stories here and there to flesh out the assorted cast of characters.
From a creative standpoint, I am anxious to get started presenting this story in a fresh new way! If you've done the math on the number of issues I've published so far than you've probably realized the scope of this story already. At an installment a week, I'm in this one for the long haul and I hope you are too!
In the meantime, if you get impatient, the printed editions are available for sale.
Drop me a line at jared_catherine@yahoo.com for how to get a hold of them.
That said, keep checking back for more updates of all sorts. For notifications of updates to previews of upcoming print editions or Show appearances, you get the idea, there's Facebook and Twitter. Take your pick.

Super Haters Guest Week

This week, I had the honor of being able to contribute to Nick Marino's Super Haters web comic. For those of you out there not in the know, think of The Gang from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia but as super heroes. It's an incredibly clever comic strip that holds nothing sacred. I'm a big fan and being able to offer my take on the characters was a very cool experience.

On today's Destruct-O-Cast, I discussed with Nick the creative process on the strip. At the risk of being redundant, the first thing I did was go on an Archive binge to really get to know the characters and understand them from the inside out. For me, this is very important, because I don't want to just draw the characters on the page. I want to bring them to life. I don't want them to just pose on the page, I want them to perform for the reader. So, the first thing I did was whip up some drawings of the characters that would be featured in the strip so that I could get a full grip on their personalites and what makes them so unique. This was a lot of fun.

Once these were done I sent them off to Nick to show him what I had in mind and get any input he may have had. He was jazzed with the direction I was going in, so the next stage was the script. You can hear all about that in great detail on the podcast.

With the script in hand I went to town in the page breakdowns. Telling a story in six panel installments is actually a bit of a challenge. Not an insurmountable one mind you, but a challenge all the same. Very little changed from the breakdown phase and the finished art work.

In fact, the only REAL change was on panel two of the page below. The script had called for Minds Eye to be wearing a dress made out of live cats. At one point Nick felt the joke wasn't quite all it could be and we put our heads together to really punch it up.

The only other MAJOR change that occurred after the final pages got turned in was the decision to convert the pages to black & white. Nick had the inspired idea to give our strip the feel of the old Mad and Cracked magazine type stories. While I was hesitant at first about the choice, his enthusiasm for it was infectious. Cracked, and to a lesser extent Mad, were a big part of my childhood and their influence on my work today is undeniable. Plus, no Super Haters strip had even been done completely in black & white before! All those factors combined FAR outweighed any trepidation I had felt.

All in all I am SUPER proud of the work Nick and I put in on making this week's strip. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to read the strip. I sincerely hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed creating it!!
